Sailors

Leaving the riddle that we called home

we soon set sail

Finding our wings a need to roam

we took this trail

Head winds roared as we set out to sea

that distant shores would set us free

And we sailed away

Led by the starlight of rock and roll

we saw our chance

Crossing the sixties we found the soul

and came to dance

all day long in a strawberry field

high on love we prayed was real

And we danced away

And this is for the heroes who carried our grail

this is for the songs that lit our trail

this is for the poet that dreamed our goal

this is for the painter and the painter's soul

But twenty years at sea is a long time

twenty years of aiming for an unknown shore

Did anyone define what we set out for?

Though we found a lot en route we need to know much more

so much more

Set your sail
