Moonlight Love

It may be minor, but it's true

that I never said such a thing to you

There may be good reasons why

oh, I'm sure there are

but tell me something now

why would you want to lie?

I've been counting up my dreams

and the thoughts they reflect

at what cost?

I've been running through a forest

of moonlight love

I've been lost

I've been playing far from the sunny side

And there were times I thought

with desperate conviction

that I'd never see another day

just like when we faced

the clear prediction

that it had to end up this way

And I've drawn one conclusion

from this wild life:

If you can't be true

with everything in view

then you'd better run the other way

If you can't be true

with everything in view

then you'd better run the other way

Better run, better run

Came my favorite friend

sat down beside me

no darkness in her eyes

Sang my favorite song

echo in brightness

no disguise

as I told her the story

of the sacred stream

I had crossed

And how, by hiding the truth

of my innocent dream

I've been tossed

far away from the sunny side

where I led my life

living in moonlight

and all I had to breathe was night

and my visions

and my passionate illusions

true enough to stay in sight

But my dream exploded

as I faced the fact:

If you can't be true

with everything in view

then you'd better find another light

If you can't be true

with everything in view

then you'd better find another light

Find another light
