Disguise

The misty moonlight mirror opens

slowly as the sounds take shape

the midnight music's queen transmutes again

from dream to moonlight rain

Her dance flows slowly 'cross the water's

silvery strings, her moon dance harp

her windy breath in whispers bids us all

to join the forest ball

and the solemn looking Mountain King

is asking gentle Lady Spring

say would she join him in the ring

of dancers whirling in free

and open harmony

while old and sleepy Beorn the bear

is blushing meekly as the fair

Lady Elk asks if he'll share

the last dance with her still

then she smiles (she knows that he will)

But then as I sat on the mossy shore

lost as I was, entranced and more

her eyes met mine in a flash of red

A stranger, she cried

I feared she was right

so back into the dark, dark night I fled

But I hadn't run far among the furry trees

when a wolfen shadow came running like a breeze

caught up with me, broke my trance

said, I was sent by the Queen

for she wanted to know

would you care to join her in the dance

She said:  Prey tell, who are you stranger?

Whence did you come?

Life has many faces

but yours I thought was not for dance at all

Oh, my Queen

this night I came from afar

I have seen many dances

but yours I thought my eyes would not behold

But under Northern Lights

and through these misty clouds

a fine, still wave of harmony

shone through: I saw you

Be it your fortune

or be it fate that brought you here

or be it you, in quest for harmony

so clear: I welcome you here

So tune up my harp for dance

lay her strings across the water

tonight my friend will follow

to see his dream set free

So take my hand

face the northern window

your very light will guide you

from here

But with a world in my eyes

and a night in my mind

I could not see

I had a notion she was spinning

ahead of the light

but that could not be

As the chords turned to ice

and the sounds burned like fire

a symphony

of cloud turned to song

and a laughter ahead

occurred to me

In the mist of a star

a river came running

pure melody

And it grew lighter and lighter and lighter indeed

And out of the river came glowing with a smile

a song that I knew I knew

I should know

from before

Her eyes of love of no man's kind did shine

with a light I knew

I should know

but I didn't

Just then

My eyes opened

and I saw her smiling face again

Life in disguise, she laughed

Then who am I, I asked

Be what you want, her replay sang

Then came sailing on my thought

a face I'd seen before

Hi, Beorn the Bear, I said

Life in disguise, he laughed

Then who am I, I asked

Be what you want, his reply sang

Then came rising from my past

a truth I'd seen before

This is my song, I sang

These are my words, she said

This is my smile, he laughed

This is our dance, we danced

Life in disguise, my own thought sang

Looking down I see the moon light mirror's

morning reflecting my dawn
